If you want to try out yoga, but do not have the option of enrolling in regular classes, you can get a yoga DVD instead. It may not look it, but yoga can be easy to do at home.
In any case, you have to know the form of yoga which suits you best and then get a DVD that is created for beginners.
Based on reviews and their popularity, some of the best yoga DVDs on the market are Rodney Yee’s “AM and PM Yoga for Beginners”, “Kundalini Yoga for Beginners and Beyond” by Ravi Singh and Ana Brett, and Sudha Carolyn Lundeen’s “Kripalu Yoga Gentle DVD”. All three instructors are well known yoga authorities.
“AM and PM Yoga for Beginners” involves two 20-minute-long sessions of Hatha yoga, the first to be done before work and the other, after work. Set in breathtaking Maui at dawn and in fascinating Death Valley at sundown, the DVD has Rodney Yee leading viewers in various simple poses in a gently paced flow.
“Kundalini Yoga for Beginners and Beyond”, on the other hand, shows the viewer how to practice Kundalini yoga, often referred to as awareness yoga, for an energizing workout. The video has 2 twenty-five-minute-long Kundalini sessions, which can be done at different times or successively. Ravi Singh and Ana Brett, famous yoga teachers to celebrities, also provide meditation and relaxation exercises in the DVD.
Meditation and breathing are the focus in “Kripalu Yoga Gentle DVD”. The usual impression is that the DVD is especially created for older yoga beginners. It offers new levels to the definition of gentle. The pacing is slow and easy, with some poses having been modified to be easier to execute. Sudha Carolyn Lundeen’s voice sounds both relaxing and instructive.
Other great yoga DVDs for beginners are available out there, but just in case you prefer something that is possibly a little more interactive and allows consultations with the teacher, an online yoga class may be better for you. They also make at-home practice a possibility, giving you the same lenience with your yoga setup that yoga DVDs offer.
