If you are an avid fisherman, you know that fishing conditions can change quickly and it is essential to have all the right gear to adapt to it.  There are situations when it is not practical to bring multiple fishing rods with you on a trip such as when traveling by plane or train.  Fishing rod telescopic can resolve this problem because it can be collapsed to about three feet and will fit in most luggages.  These modern travel rods are designed for many types of fishing including surf fishing rods, fly fishing rods and salmon fishing rods.  These rods are also great for kayakers who don’t want the hassles of bringing along full size rods.

Until a few years ago, many of these telescopic rods were considered as cheap toys.  However, as demand for compact rods increases, manufactures started to produce high quality rods that are lighter and more durable. Most rods are made of carbon fiber or graphite and they all have the same features as the regular two-piece rods. There are certain models that can extend to 14 feet which are made for carp or saltwater surf fishing.  Shimano, Berkley and St.Croix are some of the more well known brands that make these unique fishing rods.

Telescopic fishing rods can be found at most fishing shops including online stores such as Alltackle, Basspro and Cabelas. I would recommend choosing a 9 feet medium action rod as your travel rod.  This rod’s length and power combo should be good enough to suit most of your fishing needs. The prices are from $50 and up to $150 depending on the features and brands. You can find good deals for these rods from online stores during the off season.  In conclusion if you are planning a family vacation or a business trip and would like to sneak in some fishing time then you should consider packing a telescopic rod.
