With recent trends of remodeling and new construction, nothing is more important than the kitchen worktops. Just as the kitchen is no longer the cramped den of drudgery, so has the kitchen worktop evolved beyond mere vegetable chopping and food preparation? If the modern kitchen is now the heart of the home, then the kitchen worktop is surely the command center.
Dad may plug his laptop in and work there. Mom may try out that new recipe while keeping track of the kids doing their homework. It only stands to reason that whatever your qualifications, be they cost and durability, upgrades or something more traditional, a kitchen worktop is like an essential old friend.
While the granite kitchen worktop has reigned supreme recently, with its beauty and desirable style, there are many other contenders. The hardwood kitchen worktop is strong and easy to maintain and usually comes in the timeless textures of oak, but even bamboo is now being turned towards the homeowners whims. For the hardworking kitchen worktop, it is hard to beat Corian. Some of the more innovative kitchen worktops are being made of glass or contemporary concrete. For many the old standbys of tile and laminates are just what the kitchen worktop doctor ordered.
Surely with the attractive lighting and spacious settings now available the kitchen worktop also can function as a bar island and entertainment platform. The recent trend in some climes has been for the kitchen worktop to move outside through windows or archways. Therefore, if you are remodeling in this economy or blessed with a new dream kitchen, the kitchen worktop you choose will reflect your taste and priorities for years to come. While swimming pools are nice, no one can prepare a beef wellington or carve your child’s first jack-o-lantern on them. The perfect kitchen worktop is a luxury you will actually use.
