How To Organize Kitchen Cabinets In 6 Simple Steps

August 19, 2011.

If you do not know how to organize kitchen cabinets, there are some ways in which this can be made easy. Having an organized kitchen can make your cooking time much more pleasant and it can even make you a better cook.  So let’s get started.

Step 1
Empty all of your kitchen cabinets and place the contents in the middle of your kitchen or on a countertop where you can easily reach them. Sort everything into different piles of like items. For instance, store the pots with the pots, the pans with the pans, the dishes all together, mugs in one pile and so on.

Step 2
Now that you have all the cabinets emptied, its cleaning time. Start with one cabinet and clean with sponges and rags. Line the cabinets with contact paper and begin to put everything back.

Step 3
As you begin to restock, start off with the shelves or cabinets closest to the stove. This makes cooking most convenient. Begin stocking the spices and condiments first. Stock them at the bottom shelf in the cabinet near the stove. All your spices, herbs and condiments, which are most used, will be stored on this shelf. The other food items which are not used as frequently can be stocked on the upper shelves.

Step 4
Move on to another cabinet and begin placing your plates. If you can get wire racks, it could help you place your plates optimally, without having them roll into one another. This way you prevent them from getting cracked and chipped. You can place cups and saucers and soup bowls next to the plates.

Step 5
The next step is to store your storage containers. These may contain different foods such as flours, grains, seeds and other such things. Try to organize them by pairing like things together and storing them in this order.

Step 6
It’s time to store your glasses. Place all your glasses in a cabinet which is closest to the refrigerator or your drinks cabinet. Place each of the glasses face down so that they do not get dirty. Breakable glasses should ideally be stored on the bottom shelf and if you have steel or plastic cups, you can place them on the upper shelves.

We hope you found these kitchen organization ideas useful.
