Basketball is one of the most widely played games in the world, and attracts more players every year than any other sport. As a result more and more athletes are now trying their hands at the sport.
All the first time players have various questions regarding the game, to which they do not find easy answers, unless they sign up with professional coaches. For those who want to learn more about the game on their own, here are answers to some frequently asked questions concerning basketball.
Q) How do I dribble the ball?
A) Dribbling is the most important part of the game. You need to be able to dribble the ball properly in order to play the game. To dribble the ball you need to open your palm flat and hit the ball against the floor of the court. Keep your palm at the back of the ball slightly moving it in the direction you want to go.
Q) What is a foul?
A) A foul is basically a violation of the rules of the basketball game. It can occur for instance if the player holds the ball in both hands for more than five seconds. A foul is awarded to an individual player. Around five fouls are allowed to a player after which he is removed from the game.
Q) What is the five second violation?
A) The five second violation occurs when the team takes more than five seconds to pass the ball around. This implies a penalty which results in handing the ball’s control over to the opponents.
