Well-balanced protein consumption during breakfast, lunch and dinner is high recommended for those who want to maintain their body’s health, lose weight and build muscles. However, a crucial amount of calorie consumption is also recommended while following a high protein diet.
For men, an intake of 1800 calories per day is necessary in their diet plans.
- Breakfast: your breakfast should consist of at least 440 calories. This may include ½ cup of granola cereal with fat-free milk and chopped banana which accounts to 400 calories. You can also have various fruits such as berries or melons to add up 40 more calories. Your meal should also include a cup of coffee or tea. You may also opt for banana or strawberry shake.
- Mid-morning Snack: while following a protein diet, make sure to consume foods that are rich not just in protein but also in fiber at least every 2 to 3 hours. This can provide you with 230 calories and helps maintain your sugar levels. Fruits such as grapes are recommended as well, along with a slice of fat-free cheese and ham.
- Lunch: the best lunch should contain high amount of protein but make sure that it contains foods that has low GI value. You may opt for whole wheat bread and mustard with tuna. You may also add tomatoes, celery, chopped onions and lettuce or turkey breast, hard boiled eggs, almonds and cherry tomatoes.
- Mid-afternoon Snack: as the day passes by, the body may not be able to utilize the carbohydrates in the body for energy and so excess carbohydrates will be converted into fats. Make sure to cut down carbohydrates as mid-afternoon approaches. Your snack should have walnuts or cheese sticks. Take note that a low carbohydrate, high protein snack is essential.
- Dinner: including protein into your dinner can help keep you fuller for a long period of time. Fishes like salmon are great sources of protein as well as vegetables like beans and broccoli.
Other foods that you can add into your high-protein diet include soya milk, eggs, roast beef, tofu, bacon, roast chicken, fresh fruits and veggies and bacon.
